The Seattle Seahawks' goal in 2016 will be to return to the Super Bowl for the third time in four seasons.

They'll have a chance to get off to a hot start, with just one game against a returning playoff team in the first nine weeks. And the Seahawks will play five of their games in prime time.

Week 1: Sunday, Sept. 11, vs. Miami Dolphins, 4:05 p.m. ET

The league did new Dolphins coach Adam Gase no favors, making him start his tenure at CenturyLink Field. The Seahawks should be able to take care of business in the opener. Record: 1-0

Week 2: Sunday, Sept. 18, at Los Angeles Rams, 4:05 p.m. ET

This will be the NFL's return to Los Angeles, and it's also Pete Carroll's return to the place where he had so much success in college. The Rams always seem to give Seattle trouble, and they open their home schedule with a victory. Record: 1-1

Week 3: Sunday, Sept. 25, vs. San Francisco 49ers, 4:05 p.m. ET

Chip Kelly will make his first trip to Seattle as an NFL head coach. In 2014, Carroll's Seahawks went to Philadelphia and beat Kelly's Eagles 24-14. The 49ers are rebuilding and could be double-digit underdogs in this game. Record: 2-1

Week 4: Sunday, Oct. 2, at New York Jets, 1 p.m. ET

The Seahawks go back to MetLife Stadium for the first time since they beat the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII. According to ESPN Stats & Information, they are 3-0 all time at MetLife and have outscored their opponents 102-33 in those games. Record: 3-1

Week 5: Bye

Week 6: Sunday, Oct. 16, vs. Atlanta Falcons, 4:25 p.m. ET

Dan Quinn, who spent two seasons as the Seahawks' defensive coordinator, takes on his former team for the first time. It doesn't go well for him. Record: 4-1

Week 7: Sunday, Oct. 23, at Arizona Cardinals, 8:30 p.m. ET

This will be the first game the Seahawks play against a team that made the playoffs last season. In all likelihood, the Seahawks and Cardinals will be battling it out for the division once again. Record: 4-2

Week 8: Sunday, Oct. 30, at New Orleans Saints, 1 p.m. ET

Jimmy Graham's health will be a major storyline this season. This will be his first return to New Orleans, where he spent five seasons and piled up 4,752 receiving yards and 51 touchdowns. Record: 5-2

Week 9: Monday, Nov. 7, vs. Buffalo Bills, 8:30 p.m. ET

This is the Seahawks' only Monday night game. It's tough to predict what kind of team Rex Ryan will field in his second season in Buffalo, but the Seahawks have a good shot to finish the first half of their schedule with a win. Record: 6-2

Week 10: Sunday, Nov. 13 at, New England Patriots, 8:30 p.m. ET

This looks like the toughest spot on the Seahawks' schedule. They'll be coming off a Monday night game and have to travel across the country to face a Patriots team that has a bye the week before. Record: 6-3

Week 11: Sunday, Nov. 20, vs. Philadelphia Eagles, 4:25 p.m. ET

The Seahawks face an Eagles team that will be rebuilt in Howie Roseman's vision. No Byron Maxwell. No DeMarco Murray. And no Kiko Alonso. Will Sam Bradford be the Eagles' quarterback in this game? Record: 7-3

Week 12: Sunday, Nov. 27, at Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 4:05 p.m. ET

For the second week in a row, the Seahawks face a team with a new coach. This will be their first look at quarterback Jameis Winston, and it’s this year’s surprise loss. Record: 7-4

Week 13: Sunday, Dec. 4, vs. Carolina Panthers, 8:30 p.m. ET

It's a rematch of last year's divisional-round game, where the Panthers got out to a 31-0 first-half lead and held on for a 31-24 victory. Cam Newton & Co. got the best of the Seahawks twice last year, but Seattle prevails here at home. Record: 8-4

Week 14: Sunday, Dec. 11, at Green Bay Packers, 4:25 p.m. ET

Lambeau Field in December is not a welcoming place. This is one of the few games in which the Seahawks very well could be underdogs. They fall for the fifth time. Record: 8-5

Week 15: Thursday, Dec. 15, vs. Rams, 8:25 p.m. ET

The Seahawks get a Thursday night game late in the season. Usually by Week 15 the Rams have been eliminated from playoff contention. Record: 9-5

Week 16: Sunday, Dec. 24, vs. Arizona Cardinals, 4:25 p.m. ET

The Seahawks get to spend Christmas Eve at home in what could be a crucial late-season matchup with implications in the division. They avoid getting swept by Bruce Arians' squad. Record: 10-5

Week 17: Sunday, Jan. 1, at San Francisco 49ers, 4:25 p.m. ET

The Seahawks ring in the New Year at Levi's Stadium. They finish the season with three straight wins. Record: 11-5
